Grant funds available for the following improvements: energy efficiency, accessibility, exterior rehabilitation, minor home repair and substantial rehabilitation of property.
Applications will only be accepted for people who meet the following criteria and who bring documentation with them proving they are eligible:
Be 55 years of age (driver’s license or other legal ID).
Own and occupy the assisted property (proof of ownership such as deed required)
Must be current on taxes (copy of last tax bill showing paid or no balance due required)
Must be current on insurance coverage on the property (proof of current insurance coverage required).
Property must not be subject to citation of violation of state and/or local ordinances.
Total combined household income (income for everyone who lives in the home over 18 must be included) must be below the amounts on the chart below with proof of income required.

Individual awards will start at $5,000 and vary depending on need. All awards $10,000 or greater will required a 5-year forgivable lien.
Applicants must complete Self-Certification Form at time of application.
Examples of eligible projects: Storm doors/exterior doors, windows, insulation, furnaces/boilers, water heater upgrades, accessibility upgrades, roofs, security lighting, masonry repairs, porch/deck repairs/replacements, driveways, electrical upgrades, etc.
Application assistance will be provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10-3, for three weeks beginning January 21st, at the Ernest T. Ford Field House, 10 Pitkin Street. If any citizen is unable to come to the gym, a volunteer will come to their home to take the application.
All applicants will be interviewed one-on-one for proof of qualifications.
Applicants will be selected by random draw from all eligible applications. You don’t have to be present at the drawing to be selected. MI-Hope3 grantees are ineligible for this grant at this time.
