SVC is a voluntary program run by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Under SVC, HUD changes the way it provides rental assistance to the properties from public housing to a long-term Section 8 (Project Based Voucher) assistance contract with a new ownership entity. The Section 8 program makes it easier for us to access money to repair and improve the property, now and in the future.

The meetings are intended to discuss the proposed changes to the structure of the HPHC. During the meeting we will discuss the program guidelines, proposed rehabilitation, a timeline to start the projects, the rights as residents of the HPHC and how the changes will affect the community.

Our goal is threefold:

  • The redevelopment and restructuring of the housing commission.
  • To build upon the strength and engagement of the community.
  • Work with the city of Highland Park officials in strengthening the future of the city.
