DPW Supervisor

Job Description:

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. At the direction of the Director, helps with divisional activites of the Public Works Department by assisting with development of short and long term goals and objectives.
  2. Regularly meets with the Mayor and other departments needed or directed to reveiw divisional activities, coordinates work effort, discusses and resolves problems and assures adherence to department goals, objectives and policies. Along with the Director, keeps the Mayor informed of department's activities through written and oral reports.
  3. Perform routine mainenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  4. Attends meetings of the City Council and various Commissions and Committees of the Council to present pertinent data and information to aid them in their decision making process.
  5. At the direction of the Director o DPW and in coordination with City Engineering, assist with the preperation of the departmental budget and of capital improvements of public works character. 
  6. Interviews, trains, counsels, evaluates, and disciplines department employee. Making hiring recommendations to the Human Resource Department.
  7. Meets with department heads, coordinating activites to reduce or eliminate unnecessary duplication of efforts.
  8. Speaks on behalf og the City as public or social meetings.

Qualifications:
  • An associates degree or the equivalent in civil engineering, construction or a public works related field. (Preferred)
  • A High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5 or more years of progressively more responsible experience in public works and water systems, including superviosry and administrative duties.
  • A valid Commercial Driver's License required. (CDL)

 

Job Compensation

$45,000
